According to Container Management, PSA is calling for proposals for Container Port 4.0
PSA International (PSA)’s corporate venture capital arm PSA unboXed has put out a second call for technology solutions proposals in support of an incubator programme to develop a futuristic container port.
The company invited start-ups and potential partners to put forward innovative solutions to test-bed in the PSA Living Lab as part of its incubator programme Container Port (CP) 4.0.
CP 4.0, which was launched to establish a hyper-connected port deploying smart technologies, guides PSA’s terminals around the world on which automation and digital technologies to adopt and allows the sharing of project details within the group.
The programme’s six core pillars include a connected port and shipping community, smart equipment and systems, pre-emptive health, safety and security management by using integrated analytics to reduce risk, sustainability and reduction of energy footprint, data-driven integrated and optimised to increase productivity, and integration of automated container handling and transfer equipment.
The Living Lab, which consists of two operational berths at PSA’s Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore and was launched last year by MPA, EDB and PSA for the port and logistics industry, has committed to an investment of approximately S$100m (US$71m) over a period of three years.
PSA unboxed, which was launched in May last year, already invested in two start-ups, namely freight e-marketplace Hakovo and AutosenseAGV, a next-generation navigation solution for automated vehicles in the port.
The company also recently invested in ClearMetal, a San Francisco-based predictive logistics company using data science and AI in an attempt to raise efficiencies for containerised freight.
Oh Bee Lock, head of Group Technology at PSA, said: “New technologies increasingly transform the way we produce, transact and consume; PSA believes that ports and the larger supply chain can also reap the benefits of these technologies applied.
“CP4.0TM is PSA’s transformation blueprint for establishing the Port of the Future: a hyper-connected port that creatively deploys smart technologies to deliver sustained value to customers and stakeholders in the port, shipping and broader logistics communities.”
