On March 18, China Merchants Group's emergency working group on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 held the tenth meeting. The meeting conveyed and studied the instructions and documents recently issued by the higher authorities. Group Chairman, Li Jianhong, head of the working group, presided over the meeting. Group President, Hu Jianhua, deputy head of the working group, as well as the Group's leading body (also members of the emergency working group), attended the meeting either in person or through video conferencing.

The meeting conveyed and studied the instructions and documents issued by the higher authorities as well as made further requirements for major tasks at present. Group Chairman, Li Jianhong, head of the working group, presided over the meeting. Group President, Hu Jianhua, deputy head of the working group, as well as the Group's leading body (also members of the emergency working group) attended the meeting either in person or through video conferencing.
CMPort’s Overseas projects attends the 2019 CIIE
On 5thNovember, the 2nd China International Import Expo (“CIIE”) held its grand opening in Shanghai, guest from all over the world gathered in National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech on the opening ceremony.
The booth of China Merchants Group Company Limited (“CMG”) is located in the service trade session decorated under the CMG’s signature “Blue”. Dr. Wang Hong, Executive Vice President of CMG, Mr. Li Zhonghan, Deputy General Manager of International Development of CMG, Mr. Yan Gang, Deputy Chief Representative of CMG in Central Asia and Baltic region and General Manager of China-Belarus Industrial Park Development Company, and others visited and actively introduced the CMG’s booth to guests.
In this CIIE, seven overseas projects of CMG take part in the exhibition, namely the China-Belarus Industrial Park, Djibouti International Free Trade Zone, Sri Lanka Colombo International Container Terminals, Hambantota International Port Group, Nigeria Tin-Can Island Container Terminal, Turkey Kumport Container Terminal and Laos Vientiane Saysettha Development Zone. The CMG exhibitors shows different characteristics from Europe, South Asia, Africa and other countries and regions, as well as their services and roles in the global port logistics industry, and hence showing the layout and achievements of CMG along the Belt and Road. Mr. Yu Zhijun, Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of China Merchants Port Group Company Limited, visited the CMG’s booth and communicated with the representatives of the exhibitors.
All the exhibitors paid high attention to the CIIE. Some of them sent local employees to show their national costumes and warmly reception to guests from all sides, prominently reflecting the Expo’s theme of introducing foreign elements and internationalization and diversification of CMG’s booth.
The 2nd CIIE is a world-class event hosted by China. It is an open cooperation platform for international trade and a public product to promote economic globalization. Let’s continue to actively participate in China's new round of high-level opening up, meet with partners at the China Merchants exhibition hall, expand Chinese market, share development opportunities, and achieve mutual benefit.
CMPort signed Strategic Cooperation Agreements with CADFUND and CPDFUND
On 18th October 2019,Dr. Bai Jingtao, the CEO of China Merchants Port Group Company Limited (“CMPort”) attended the Sino-Portuguese investment and financing Promotion Conference (“the Conference”) organised by the China Development Bank and has signed Strategic Cooperation Agreements with China Africa Development Fund (“CADFUND”) and China-Portugal Cooperation Development Fund (“CPDFUND”). Mr. Lu Yongxin, the deputy general manager of CMPort witnessed the signing ceremony.
According to the agreements, the signing parties identified port development, acquisition and infrastructure constructions as the key fields for the parties to jointly explore project resources, project development plans, and carry out investment cooperation on mature projects. CMPort will take part in applying major advantages and operational management experience to assess project opportunities and provide professional technical and management support to other parties. CADFUND and CPDFUND will make use of their institutional coverage and in-depth understanding on Africa and Portuguese speaking countries, to give full play to their capital operation capacity and assist the development and operation of the projects.
After the signing ceremony, Mr. Gui Dong, the Executive General Manager of Investment and Development Department of CMPort, was invited to introduce the progress and strategy of CMPort’s global investments and developments.
After the conference, Dr. Bai Jingtao, with his delegation, held talks with Mr. Liu Jin, Executive Vice President of China Development Bank, and Ms. Yang Baohua, Chairman of CADFUND, to exchange views on the extensive cooperation between the two companies in Africa, Latin America and Portuguese-speaking countries or regions, expressing strong support for the future cooperation between the companies in the field of infrastructure investment.
On 2nd November, the award ceremony for the 3rd China Quality Award, organised by the State Administration for Market Regulation, was held in Beijing.
